An unplanned expatriate blogger behind Timber Field Park

Hey, I'm Sophie
I work as a project manager, I’m a parent, and I currently live abroad in Zurich, Switzerland.
A few years ago, I moved here with my family, and what began as a temporary assignment gradually became a new chapter of life abroad.
How It Started
Moving to Switzerland wasn't part of the long-term plan. Like many expat relocations, it began as a job opportunity and quickly grew into something far more significant.
The opening months were demanding — unfamiliar systems, new routines, elevated expectations. Daily tasks felt more tangled than they should have.
The Adjustment Period
Culture shock, ambiguity, and hands-on learning were common. Yet gradually routines took shape. We found places that fit us, connected with other families, and began building something that felt secure.
Why I Built Timber Field Park
Most information online was either corporate-level relocation advice or surface-level tourism material. What was missing was honest, day-to-day family perspective.
This site aims to bridge that divide — practical guidance drawn from real life in Switzerland.
What This Site Represents (And Doesn't)
This site IS:
- Hands-on insights from living in Switzerland
- Centered on family life and daily realities
- Updated whenever something truly changes
This site ISN'T:
- Official tourism authority material
- Platform for sponsored reviews
- A generic travel diary
Looking Ahead
Our stay in Switzerland goes on, as does the learning journey. As long as the content remains useful, I’ll continue to record what we find.
If you have questions about family life in Zurich or anywhere in Switzerland, please don’t hesitate to get in touch.
Best regards,
Sophie
